Record

The following criteria are used to calculate the speed of an official car record:

The average speed recorded along a mile noted in two consecutive passages to be achieved within a set time. The two average speeds over a mile for the two passages are in turn averaged and the result is the speed record. One-off speed apexes are not the point but rather consistent and repeatable performances.

The first year (2011) of competitive participation at the Bonneville Speed Week, brought great satisfaction to Fabio Montani and his team: the world speed record for the category with a speed of 483.377 km/h (300.357 miles/hour). The record earned a place for Gus Gus in the speed Hall of Fame as the fastest Italian vehicle overall, as well as the first Italian car to achieve a speed record on the Bonneville Salt Flats in the queen category. In addition, Fabio Montani was awarded prestigious "Life Membership" in the exclusive CHAPTER 300, the restricted section of the Bonneville 200 mph Club reserved for drivers who have exceed speeds of 300 mph. For the records, the highest speed recorded and certified by the timekeepers is 309.975 mph (498.854 km/h).
